Jay Sean (real name - Kamaljit Singh Jhooti) is a British Indian R&B singer. He was born on March 26, 1981.
Jay attended a private boys school and went on to win a place at Barts and The London, Queen Mary's School of Medicine and Dentistry in London to train as a doctor. After two years Jay Sean secured a one million pounds record deal and dropped out to pursue his musical career.
Jay Sean's musical career began when the first song he had written, "One Minute", was passed on by friends and eventually landed in the hands of British Asian producer, Rishi Rich.
His first taste of UK chart success was with his collaboration with Rishi Rich. The song, "Dance With You (Nachna Tere Naal)" became a top twenty hit. His first solo single proper, "Eyes on You", quickly followed and it became a top ten hit, peaking at number six. His third single "Stolen", became his biggest hit to date, peaking at number four. Following this, his debut album Me Against Myself was released to much critical praise and acclaim.
At the 2008 UK AMA Awards, Jay Sean walked away with double honors after being presented with the 2008 - UK Asian Music Award for both Best Video (Ride It) and Best Urban Act.
In Jay Sean's new album, two songs also appear on the featured artist's album; "Stuck in the Middle" featuring Jared Cotter is titled "He Can't Love You" by Cotter, and Thara also shares the same song, "Murder" on her album released on iTunes.
