Ferras (real name - Ferras Alqaisi) is an American Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter. He was born in 1982, in Gillespie, a small town in Southern Illinois.
At the age of five, his father took him to the airport promising a trip to Disneyland, but instead spiriting him away to Amman, Jordan. He stayed in his father's native country for three months, and there began writing songs, taking solace in the Casio keyboard that his father gave him.
Ferras was signed to EMI's Capitol Music Group after an audition for the label's chairman Jason Flom while on Spring Break from Berklee College of Music.
Ferras then flew to New York City to cut the demos which would eventually form his debut album Aliens & Rainbows, which was released on March 11, 2008. The first single from the album is "Hollywood's Not America", and will be featured as the "exit song" of part of Season 7 of American Idol.
Ferras made his first national performance of his first single on February 12, 2008 on the Today Show.
