Canton band was formed in 1883 and has consistently contributed to the worship and evangelical outreach promoted by the Canton Citadel Corps on the west side of the city of Cardiff.

The Band has travelled throughout the United Kingdom, playing at Christian services and events; performed in concert halls, worship centres, prisons and hospitals; and marched through cities, towns and villages proclaiming the good news of God's love for all.

The Band has appeared on television and radio, completed tours of Norway (twice), Holland and Germany, and in 1991 was the first Salvation Army Band to march through the streets of Leipzig following the re-unification of Germany.

November 2001 celebrated the launch of the Band's first Compact Disc recording 'Land of Song'.
