About

Despised Icon is a band from Montreal, Quebec, Canada which plays a combination of metalcore and death metal commonly called deathcore. The band was formed by members of Neuraxis, In Dying Days and Heaven’s Cry, in January 2002.

They are noted for use of two full-time vocalists, Alexandre Erian, who sings the mid range screams, and Steve Marois for the extremely low growls and high pitch screams.

After catching people's attention with 2005's acclaimed The Healing Process, the Montreal-based death/grindcore six-piece DESPISED ICON have upped the ante with The Ills of Modern Man, a savage and uncompromising yet dynamic new effort that is sure to resonate throughout the genre for years to come.

Alex Erian (vocals) states: "This is as tight as we could possibly get. Some of the parts on this record are faster then anything we've done in the past. Expect more blastbeats and gravity blasts! We've drilled holes in our heads and came up with loads of inventive breakdowns. I know this is the type of stuff that all bands say, but trust me, you won't be disappointed.?

In early 2007, DESPISED ICON recorded their highly anticipated sophomore Century Media release with acclaimed producer/former guitarist Yannick St-Amand (Beneath The Massacre, Ion Dissonance, Neuraxis), which was then mixed by the renowned Andy Sneap (Megadeth, Opeth).

The group was clearly determined to deliver an album that will leave people astonished, as they further establish their position as one of the genre's most devastating new acts. They kicked off The Ills of Modern Man touring cycle with a sold-out North Amercian tour as direct support to Job For A Cowboy, which also marked the first appearance of their new guitarist Al Glassman (Goratory, ex-Burn In Silence).
