Air Traffic are an English indie rock band from Bournemouth.
The band's name originates from when they used to practice next to a runway at Hurn Airport, where air traffic control signals could be picked up on their amplifiers. Their music features heavy use of piano, and they have been described by NME to be like "Supergrass covering Little Richard". The band have received mainstream success due to the re-release of their single "Charlotte", and the release of their debut album, Fractured Life.
Their debut album, Fractured Life, was released on July 2, 2007. It reached #42 on the UK Albums Chart. It was named "Album Of The Week" on radio station Original 106 throughout June 25-11, 2007, with several album tracks played all week.
Their Third Single 'No More Running Away' Was released on the 24th September, the video for the single was filmed in Romania
The single Shooting Star is currently used as the theme tunes for MTV UK's "Living On The Edge", And YouTube's Online Series The Suburbs.
Air Traffic were one of ten nominees for the Xfm New Music Award 2007 and they played at the ceremony, at London's Koko, on Wednesday 16th January 2008.
