Shirley Bassey (real name - Dame Shirley Veronica Bassey) is a Welsh singer. She was born on January 8, 1937 in Cardiff, Wales.

She is best-known for performing the theme songs to the James Bond films Goldfinger (1964), Diamonds Are Forever (1971), and Moonraker (1979). She is the only singer to have recorded more than one James Bond theme song. She has sold around 135 million records in her 55 years as a recording artist.

On December 16, 2007 Dame Shirley Bassey had a 70th birthday celebration at Clivedon with a star studded guest list. The event was organised by by her friend Liz Brewer. Clivedon is a five star hotel but was once the house of the Astor's and where the Profumo affair occurred.
