Amy Winehouse, 27 years old British singer, found dead

Elena Vnorovscaia / Chişinău / Moldova.ORG / -- British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in north London.

No details about the incident are reported yet. But it was always known that the singer experienced serious problems with drugs and alcohol during all the years of her career. Winehouse was apparently 'beyond help' when paramedics arrived.

On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene. 'Sadly the patient had diedЭб sais the spokeswoman.

Scotland Yard said an autopsy will not happen tomorrow, and they cannot yet confirm the exact cause of death until the results are received.

Winehouse famously battled addiction to drugs and alcohol and was in and out of rehab several times throughout the years. Last month, Winehouse canceled her European tour after a performance in Serbia where she seemed completely out of it.

Winehouse's health often appeared fragile. In June 2008 and again in April 2010, she was taken to hospital and treated for injuries after fainting and falling at home.

Her father said she had developed the lung disease emphysema from smoking cigarettes and crack, although her spokeswoman later said Winehouse only had "early signs of what could lead to emphysema."

She left the hospital to perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday concert in Hyde Park in June 2008, and at the Glastonbury festival the next day, where she received a rousing reception but scuffled with a member of the crowd. Then it was back to a London clinic for treatment, continuing the cycle of music, excess and recuperation that marked her career.
