Coldplay this week is in top on the U.K. charts
Rockers Coldplay this week is in top, the band have achieved a major feat by scoring a double on the U.K. charts, informs US reports.
The band's latest single Viva La Vida has rocketed to the top to become the country's highest selling single in its first week of release, while their album of the same name has also taken the top slot in the album chart.
According to USA Today, Coldplay's first single from the album, Violet Hill, was released as a download only edition earlier this month and is also sitting in the singles chart at number 11.
Ne-Yo's new offering Closer is at number two, with Rihanna's Take a Bow at three. The top five is rounded out by Love Song by Sara Bareilles and Forever by Chris Brown at numbers four and five respectively. 
The album chart top five sees Duffy's Rockferry sitting at number two and Neil Diamond's Home Before Dark at number three.
Darren Styles' Skydivin' is at four and Paul Weller's 22 Dreams is at number five.
