Crowded House played a very special private lunchtime concert at Hollywood's intimate, 200-capacity Hotel Café, to celebrate the upcoming release of their reunion album Time On Earth, relates The Associated Press.

Their first L.A. show since reuniting, this warmup gig for Crowded House's summer tour felt more like an informal living-room jam session, with the band members making in-jokes about recent hangovers and the cheesiness of the Who's Tommy movie, and the honking horns of afternoon gridlock traffic chiming in at amusingly inopportune moments during some of the songs.

Crowded House played an absolutely wonderful eight-song set which included four Time On Earth tunes along with well-loved classics "Private Universe," "Fall At Your Feet," "Locked Out," and signature song "Don't Dream It's Over."

"We want to thank you for spending your lunch hour with us," Finn told the lucky audience. "And if anyone is going to get in trouble for being away from work, we'll write notes for you...saying, 'F**k you!'" he added with a laugh.

It's uncertain if any of the people in attendance did get in trouble for playing hooky this fine afternoon, but if they did, it was certainly worth it.
