Spice Girl fans in Vancouver have spent the weekend on full alert for sightings of the famous girl power quintet as Sporty, Scary, Ginger, Baby and Posh prepare to launch their much-anticipated world tour.

Emma Bunton, a.k.a. Baby Spice, has been spotted shopping at Gucci with her boyfriend Jade Jones.

And Spice Girl fan Charlotte Watson says a friend of a friend spied Posh, a.k.a. Victoria Beckham, at Holt Renfrew on Friday.

Watson is excited to see the band in person at GM Place.

She says she'll be wearing high, pointy black shoes that'll make Posh proud and will be checking to see if Beckham actually sings and manages the stage choreography.

The Brit band hasn't toured together since 1999, and various members have since weathered a slew of tabloid scandal, weight battles and alleged spats.

Ginger Spice, a.k.a. Geri Halliwell, is expected to don her famous Union Jack dress while Scary Spice, a.k.a. Melanie Brown, will no doubt be showing off the moves she picked up on "Dancing With The Stars."

The only other Canadian stop for the Spice Girls is in Toronto on Feb. 3 and 4.

Watson says she's been a fan since finishing high school some 10 years ago, when the Spice Girls released their first hit, "Wannabe."

"That was the first summer I started going out drinking," says Watson, 28.

"So it reminds me of partying all the time. And summertime."

The Brit expat, who moved from the north of England to Vancouver 2 1/2 years ago, admits the band's weak musical pedigree kept them from winning over serious audiophiles, with members relying instead on sex appeal, personality and light-hearted kitsch to win over fans and media attention.

"They were always just a bit cheesy but you had to know all the dance moves and you had to know all the songs," says Watson, noting their pop culture influence was vast.

"When you were with your girlfriends, it was OK, but if anybody was asking about serious music, you didn't admit to liking the Spice Girls. It was always Oasis, or some cool band like that."

Watson prefers Sporty Spice - a.k.a. Melanie Chisolm - but admits she's most curious to see Posh, the rail-thin celebrity best known these days for marrying soccer star David Beckham.

"Officially, the IT guy's best friend saw her in Holt Renfrew at 12:45," says Watson of the alleged Spice sighting, adding she tried to catch a glimpse but failed.

"We just dropped the soup and ran."

David Beckham was in New Zealand with the Los Angeles Galaxy over the weekend, but was reportedly en route to Vancouver for the Spice Girls show.
