Final Performance: Susan Boyle Loses to Diversity
Susan Boyle lost Britain's Got Talent to Diversity, a ten-person dance crew. Diversity will perform before the Queen Elizabeth II in the Royal Variety Show and wins 100,000 pounds, some $159,000.
Boyle took second place in the voting. Boyle, who was dressed in a blue gown, chose to sing again the song that made her famous, "I Dreamed a Dream" from "Les Misérables." The crowd loved it so much that was standing on its feet before she was halfway done.
Judge Piers Morgan commented on Boyle's hardships last week.
"I thought, all you have to do to answer all your critics... is sing the song we all fell in love with, sing it better than you did last time, and Susan, I'm not supposed to favor anyone in this competition as a judge, but forget it, that was the greatest performance I've seen in 'Britain's Got Talent' history, you should win this competition, I loved it!" Morgan said.
Judge Amanda Holden added that "Simon had a tear in his eye, and I've never seen that before."
Simon Cowell referring to Boyle’s "weird seven weeks" said, "You had every right to walk away from this ... and a lot of people said you shouldn't even be in this competition, that you're not equipped to deal with it. For what? For you to sit at home with your cat and say 'I've missed an opportunity'? I completely disagree with that. Win or lose, you had the guts to come back here tonight and face your critics, and you beat them. And that's the most important thing. Whatever happens, and I've got to know the real Susan Boyle, who is not the person I've seen portrayed in the media, you can walk away from this, win or lose, with your head held high. I absolutely adore you."
When Diversity were announced as winners, Boyle was reportedly saying "The best people won."
According to a British reporter who was speaking on Sunday on Fox News' Heraldo at Large, Simon Cowell has big plans for Susan Boyle. In several weeks, he wants to record an album of Susan Boyle and sell it to the U.S. market.
In the same program Piers Morgan, speaking live from London with Geraldo Rivera, host of "Geraldo at Large" on FOX News Channel, said that “media negative staff would not matter if she [Susan Boyle] can produce a good album… She could easily become one of the best artists in America next year… She dreams the dream and she realized it.”
