Iggy Pop celebrates his 60th birthday
Iggy Pop, the so-called "Godfather of punk" marked his 60th birthday by stripping down to a tight pair of blue jeans and diving off the stage into the arms of fans during a concert in San Francisco, relates BBC news.
Pop is back on tour with the Stooges, the band with which he first made a splash in the late 1960s.
During the concert, the crowd at the Warfield theatre on Saturday sang Happy Birthday, balloons bearing his image dropped from
the ceiling and a fan handed him a white T-shirt inscribed, "Birthday Boy Iggy".
Pop, whose real name is Jim Osterberg, muttered a few words of thanks before continuing with his usual routine of athletic singing and dancing, spitting into the crowd and throwing his microphone stand around.
The Stooges paved the way for bands like The Ramones before splitting up in 1974.
