Lupe Fiasco sets sights on Pink Floyd for new CD
Having worked with Jay-Z, Kanye West and Jill Scott on his debut album, Lupe Fiasco wants to join forces with Pink Floyd on his next project -- "... or the remnants of Pink Floyd," he says to Reuters.
The Chicago rapper knows the prospect of getting the dormant rock group to sign off on such an idea is remote, but that isn't stopping him from pressing forward.
After all, he got jazz pianist Chick Corea to change his mind and approve a sample for the track "American Terrorist" from his acclaimed album "Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor."
According to Reuters, Lupe Fiasco said the next album will be titled "The Cool" and will only feature production from the up-and-coming collaborators utilized on his Atlantic debut, such as Soundtrakk and Prolyfic. "I'm coming up with concepts, but I need to
find a way to wean myself off the Internet," he said.
"Food & Liquor" spawned three Grammy nominations last week, including best rap song for "Kick, Push," which has cemented Lupe Fiasco's image as an unlikely hip-hop skateboarder.
