Musical version of 'Emma' to open in N.Y.
A new musical version of Jane Austen’s 19th century romantic comedy "Emma" is heading to New York’s Acorn Theatre.
With book, lyrics and music by Joel Adlen, the show will be presented as part of the New York Musical Theater Festival Oct. 2-7.
At the center of the story is Emma Woodhouse, a privileged young woman who simply can not be content until she has married off all of her friends and neighbors. Her world is turned upside-down, however, when she realizes she herself is in love.
Leah Horowitz, who has appeared on Broadway in "The Woman in White," "La Cage Aux Folles" and "Thoroughly Modern Millie," plays Emma.
The cast also includes Tiffan Borelli, Kara Boyer, Brenda Jean Foley, Dan Guller, Jesse Lawder, Brett Macias, John Patrick Moore, Terry Palasz, Ben Roseberry, Danny Rothman, Gael Schaefer, Tiffany Diane Smith and John Weigand. // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
