NYC staging citywide celebrations for Latin Grammys
The Latin Grammy Awards' road to New York has been a lengthy one, stretching back at least three years. As the award show prepares for its seventh edition on November 2 at Madison Square Garden, city officials are promising to give it a "New York-size welcome."
"We're using the Latin Grammys as the impetus to make a celebration of everything Latino," says Maureen Reidy, New York's chief marketing officer and president/CEO of NYC Big Events.
The Latin Grammys' Big Apple debut also marks the first time the public could purchase tickets for the show, whose previous editions have taken place in Los Angeles and Miami. This year's event sold out more than a month in advance.
