Mendy Shaw's song "Stronger", co-written by Cincinnatian Jason Phelts, was selected as one of 20 potential songs in the American Idol song writing contest.

The public will decide via on-line vote if "Stronger" is the song sung by the American Idol champion during the show's grand finale. Anyone can vote by visiting www.songwriter.americanidol.com and registering with the website.        

Shaw is a Little Miami grad and currently lives in Lebanon. She currently works as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, but has been writing and recording songs for the past 10 years. She and Phelps felt "Stronger" best fit the American Idol style.

Beyond having a song performed live on national television, the winner of the American Idol received a songwriting contract.// The Oxford Press
