Defence lawyers have rested their case in the child abuse trial of singer R Kelly in Chicago.

The singer looked relaxed as defence lawyer Ed Genson rested the case without calling any witnesses for the day.

Jurors sat in court for just several minutes before judge Vincent Gaughan sent them home for the day. They will be back in court on Tuesday when prosecutors plan to call two rebuttal witnesses.

The judge told the jurors closing arguments are likely to begin on Thursday.

Kelly, 41, has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of videotaping himself having sex with a female prosecutors say was as young as 13.// nems.launch.yahoo.com
