According to Billboared statistics, California singer and songwriter Katy Perry's cheeky ditty "I Kissed a Girl" will claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart when data are issued later on Thursday.
Coldplay's single "Viva La Vida", which spent a week at the top, will be replaced by Perry's "Kissed", claims Reuters.
The British rock band on Wednesday opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart with its fourth release, "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends." Perry's debut set, "One of the Boys," bowed on the list at No. 9.
Both acts record for Capitol Records, which last boasted consecutive Hot 100 chart-toppers in May 1976 with Sylvers' "Boogie Fever" and Wings' "Silly Love Songs."
