“American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson refused a $10 million (£5 million) offer from her record label boss Clive Davis to remove five songs from her forthcoming album, The Post Chronicle informs.

Clarkson recently admitted executives at RCA and Sony BMG had put pressure on her to record songs previously offered to other artists, but she was determined to contribute more songwriting to “My December” than her previous discs.

The “Because Of You” singer tells the American edition of Elle magazine that Davis offered her money to remove five tracks from the album in favor of other songs, which he believed had more selling ability.

"My resistance upsets a lot of people, because we could make a lot of money. And I'm not hatin' on money. ... I'm just not comfortable doing things that don't feel like me," Kelly said.
