The American pop group Backstreet Boys considered the loss of a veteran member a challenge when making its new album.

Founding member Kevin Richardson left the group in June of 2006, leaving the other four members to make the new "Unbreakable" without him.

"We had to make a decision about how we were going to do this with just four of us and not make people feel like they were missing something," says the group's Howie Dorough. "I think we were able to do that. We partnered with a great team of producers and writers and did some writing ourselves.

"I think we put together a great album. It definitely represents Backstreet Boys of the old and the new, looking forward at this chapter in our lives and Kevin moving forward with his life."

The first single from "Unbreakable," "Inconsolable," is currently climbing the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
