Danny Federici, keyboardist for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, temporarily left the group after a Boston show to receive treatment for melanoma.
Charles Giordano, who has played with Springsteen in the past with his Sessions band, will take over keyboarding duties beginning with a Sunday show in Madrid.
Federici's last show before his leave of absence Monday in Boston included several songs that prominently feature the keyboard, including "Kitty's Back," "Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out" and "4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)."
"Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years," Springsteen said in a statement. "We all eagerly await his healthy and speedy return." // Copyright 2007 by United Press International
