Fallen superstar Michael Jackson will appear at the upcoming Grammy Awards - but will NOT perform, according to U.S. reports.

Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich has long wanted to mark the 25th anniversary of Jackson’s groundbreaking “Thriller” album with an amazing star-studded revue. But he only wanted the production if Jacko agreed to appear himself.

Now insiders say Jackson is refusing to perform, saying he needs more time to prepare for a stage comeback that would make headlines around the world.

Now after a tug-of-war between Ehrlich and Jackson, they have agreed for Jacko to just appear onstage - even if he doesn’t perform.

“They are sure people with turn on and watch just to see what he looks like - he doesn’t even need to perform,” an insider said.

The revue would be a huge boost for Jackson as the re-released version of Thriller hits stores two days after the Grammy broadcast on February 10.

The medley number would include Will.i.am (on “The Girl Is Mine”), Fergie (on “Beat It”), Kanye West (on “Billie Jean”) and Akon (on “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’”).

Everyone had hoped it would mark Jackson’s big onstage comeback - his first show since being cleared of child molestation charges in his headline-grabbing court battle. “Michael couldn’t go along with performing,” says a source.

“He needs more time to rehearse new versions of the songs. And everything requires new choreography.”
